VAMOS [ 47 ] NUESTROS RELATOS Hello. I'm going to skip introducing myself because I'm pretty sure that you know my name or have probably seen me pass by in school as I am quite diffi- cult to avoid with my bright red hair. Now, as you can see by the title, I re- cently went on a skiing excursion with most 7th and 8th graders, this excur- sion was very fun, fairly priced and well prepared, so, I'd like to thank all of the teachers, monitors, ski instructors and bus drivers for putting up with us and for making this my favorite excursion. This all started with loads of gossip about a ski excursion, at first i couldn't believe it but then, a letter came home. “NO WAY!” I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a letter confirming the ski ex- cursion, my parents couldn't believe it either, but it wasn't for the same reason, it was because it cost quite a bargain. After the payments were made I found myself saying goodbye to my mom with my suitcase in my hand. Then, when the drama queen finished crying and let me go, I was finally a free man! I jumped on the bus full of excite- ment and couldn't wait to get to Panti- cosa to start a new adventure. Three stops, and thirteen hours full of singing nursery rhymes, screaming our lungs out, sleeping, and listening to music, is how we arrived at our destina- tion. As soon as I got out of the bus my eyes were full of excitement. I haven't seen snow in six years and now I not only get to see it and play with it, I also get to ski on it. When we arrivedwe left our suitcases at the door and received our key cards, we had dinner (that was delicious by the way) and we went to a disco welco- me party where my friends and I were dancing, talking, jumping everywhere and in general just having the time of our lives. So obviously when we got to our rooms we were nackerd. Now I'm just going to tell you a bit of a back story about my roommate Ro- berto. Robert is a good friend of mine, in fact, he was the first friend i had in this school, he would walk me around the school and he would help me get used to my change of country so i just want to give a huge thanks to him. Now let's continue with this adventure… We woke up the next day at 6am thanks to some intense and aggressi- ve knocking on the door which made me feel like I was in the military. I had a shower and got ready to go skiing. I was so excited while i was having breakfast, well i think we all were. We hopped on the bus and set off to the skiing rental place where we would get our equip- ment. We were all geared up so we headed to the slopes by ski lift. When we fina- lly got there, It was amazing. It was very hot but the air was cold and refreshing. We had to wait for our ski instructors, so while we were waiting my friends and I started to play with the snow. Then the monitors arrived and that was when I met my new best friend, Ja- cinto. He taught us how to ski , he was a very fun and sympathetic monitor. After we learnt how to ski we already went down our first slope. I was scared but excited at the same time, but when I was going down the slope it was really lively and I couldn't wait to go down it again. We had lunch in a restaurant by the slopes and then we had some free time to go down the slopes and basically do what we wanted until it was time to head back. We went back on the ski lift and left our equipment ready for the next day. When we got back we were supposed to go to a sauna but we arri- ved late and we weren't able to attend. So we just had dinner and headed to our rooms. The next morning everything was basically the same, from the inten- se banging on the doors to having breakfast and heading to the slopes. The only difference was that instead of going to the green slopes (green=easy, B l ue=ave r age, r ed=advanced , black=expert) we advanced to the blue slopes and we performed some activi- ties. When we finished we did the same as the other day, had lunch, free time, and headed back. When we got to the hotel I watched the football match with my friends Willy and Simon, and I also unexpec- tedly met some girls in year eight. My friends and I had some drinks while we watched the football match and then I went to my room a bit early because I was bored and tired. After that we had basically the same routine every day so i'm just going to jump into the last day we went skiing, I was surprisingly a bit emotional about saying goodbye to Jacinto (our moni- tor), we went back to the hotel and we were greeted with a disco which i had loads of fun in.The next day we were on the bus all day and I was pretty sad ha- ving to say goodbye to the best week of my life. Well as I said before, a huge thanks to everyone who did their best to make this experience possible, and thank you for reading Zakaria Mohidin 1º ESO A British in Spain- My first time skiing
